The USA is battling England in one of the early rounds of the 2010 World Cup. Several of us are meeting at Brits' Pub to watch the game on June 12, 2010. 1:30PM start. Should be a good time. See the announcement on the Events page, if you are reading this prior to that day.
We tend to gravitate toward Brits or one of the other local area pubs for events like this. The food is excellent, the atmosphere authentic, and it's become a well-established home for the ex-pat British community here in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area.
Pubs are the social hubs of English neighborhoods. Food is generally good and inexpensive. Going to a pub is acceptable for families too, depending on the time of day. Its parallel here in the 'States isn't like your standard bar, certainly not like a nightclub. Young and old alike are apt to pop down to "the local" to relax, gossip, play darts and share a pint with friends. Pubs vary from very rough and small places to somewhat stuffy paneled mens clubs, but these are the outliers. Most are quite home-like and designed for comfort.
