The lodge had a very successful turn at promoting the Atlantic Brotherhood Summit (ABS) and Masons in Motion (MIM) at the Grand Lodge Annual Communication this year. Things are gearing up for a terrific set of events. A number of brothers excelled at signing up attendees, and follow up sales on this website have been very good.
Candidly, we hoped to bring in 150 Master Masons to the Scottish Rite on June 4th, for the big exemplification of the English Third Degree. Capacity is more like 300 or 350, but it seems now we need to check on this, as now, just after the Lynnhurst Turkey Dinner, we have in excess of 150 Masons signed up to attend, even before we sign up the bulk of Churchill Lodge and Internet Lodge attendees. --Gotta remember to block another 70 seats.
The Festive Board is currently scheduled for a room at the Minneapolis Club which holds 110. If we have to increase this, we will. I believe we are up to almost 60 attendees, even before we send signup sheets to past grand masters and the Grand Lodge officers. Wow.
I'm really pleased at how our lodge promoted these events thus far. We've had as a goal from the beginning to use this to spark 'big thinking' among our fellow lodges, and to provide an interesting and educational event in the case of the ABS - and a dynamite charitable event in the case of MIM. If our little lodge can do this, with no money, less than 40 members, and no building, think of what one of the better-off lodges can do... I think that, to a man, our brethren did a swell job at promoting this as a statewide project, and doing so without boasting or making it somehow about us. It's not - it's about statewide Masonry, and our charities. Everyone wins, by supporting those two.
I'm just about to announce this event via the Philalethes group. That may bring in more traveling Masons... They're already starting to buzz about it. A great group, by the way.
